Chinese Import Ban on Recovered Plastic and Paper Products

On July 25th, 2017, Resource Recycling posted the attached article about a pending change in China that will have sweeping impacts to the recycling industry. As reported by article author, Colin Staub, "in a filing with the World Trade Organization (WTO), China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection said recycled PET, PE, PVC, PS and “other” plastics – as well as unsorted mixed paper, textiles and some trace metals – would be banned from import into the country later this year."
